Once the server shows online in Pterodactyl, players join with the allocation address — not localhost.
Grab the address
- Log into the game panel.
- Open your Minecraft server.
- Copy IP and Port from the primary allocation.
Java Edition — Direct Connect
- Launch matching Java Edition.
- Multiplayer → Direct Connection.
- Paste
IP:port→ Join Server.
Multiplayer server list
Add Server → paste the same address → Done. The MOTD comes from server.properties.
Domain / SRV (optional)
Point a hostname at the server and optionally publish _minecraft._tcp SRV so players only type the hostname.
Edition and version checks
- Java ≠ Bedrock. A Bedrock client cannot join a pure Java server without Geyser.
- Read the console boot line for the exact version.
- Modded packs require the same modloader + pack version on every client.

Frequently Asked Questions
Java vs Bedrock?
Chapter22 Minecraft plans focus on Java. Bedrock players need a bridge like Geyser — see the Geyser guide.
Wrong version?
The server jar version must match (or be compatible with) the client. Check the panel console for the running version.
Friends can't join?
Use the public panel IP:port, not localhost. On managed hosting the server is already public.
Need help?
If you are stuck after following this guide, open a ticket from the Chapter22 client area with the exact error, the port or DNS change you made, and whether the service listens locally (ss / Resource Monitor) but fails externally.
