Getting Started

How to Set Up a Minecraft Server on Chapter22 (Java)

From checkout to online: pick a tier, accept EULA, set motd/max-players, and invite friends.

This is the hub hero path: checkout → EULA → configure → invite.

1. Choose a plan

Browse Minecraft hosting (Dirt → Diamond). Match RAM to vanilla vs modpacks.

2. Complete checkout

Finish payment in the client area. Wait for the service to show Active and the Pterodactyl server to appear.

3. First boot

Follow Pterodactyl: First 15 Minutes — especially eula=true.

4. Baseline server.properties

motd=Chapter22 SMP
max-players=20
difficulty=normal
online-mode=true
white-list=false
view-distance=10
simulation-distance=8

Private SMPs should enable the whitelist next — see Whitelist, Ops, Online-Mode.

5. Test join

Join from your own Java client with the panel IP:port. Fix version mismatches before inviting everyone.

6. Optional: modpack or plugins

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tier should I pick?

Dirt/Stone suit vanilla or light Paper. Heavy modpacks need higher RAM — see the RAM guide.

Where are servers located?

Chapter22 Minecraft hosting is US-based (Ogden, UT region).

Can I switch jars later?

Yes — upload a new server jar or use supported installers, then restart. Back up the world first.

Need help?

If you are stuck after following this guide, open a ticket from the Chapter22 client area with the exact error, the port or DNS change you made, and whether the service listens locally (ss / Resource Monitor) but fails externally.

Build the server. Grow the community. Start your next chapter.

Chapter22 Minecraft hosting

Deploy a managed Minecraft server.

Deploy on Chapter22 Minecraft hosting when you want a managed Pterodactyl panel instead of babysitting a full VPS.
